To the right is a case study of a recent painting which shows step-by-step the process of creating it.				I was approached by a friend to paint a surprise portrait of his girlfriend for Christmas. He had a small photograph of her he was fond of (6 x 4.5cm) and was a fan of my artwork so asked if I could give my take on the image.
					Because of the small size of the photo and as I had never met her I asked to see some other pictures of her to gain a better overall view of her appearance and style. I also asked him about her personality and tastes to give me a basis to start my designs for the painting. He was delighted with the design on the left and more importantly thought she would be!

					When I painted the final image I used the digital mock-up as a reference but also referred to other photographs of her to get a more in-depth and rounded end product. I also stylised the painting to give it a very clean graphic quality.
					They were both very pleased with the final result and commissioned me to do a portrait of her daughter.
